trasse.ch is responsible for the discrimination-free allocation of train paths on the standard gauge networks of the SBB, BLS and SOB in the annual timetable and in the timetable as updated during the course of the year. A train path is the right to run a particular train over a defined section of line at a defined time.

The individual tasks undertaken by trasse.ch, i.e. checking framework agreements, catalogues of train paths and feasibility studies which have a crucial effect on the implementation of the annual timetable, ensure that the timetable has been compiled without discrimination. trasse.ch leads the process of resolving conflicts between train paths. By allocating definitive train paths, trasse.ch approves the draft annual timetable. Where conflicts cannot be resolved, trasse.ch demonstrates how short or medium term action can resolve the bottleneck and declares the section of line to be congested in accordance with the provisions applicable.
